How to get GTU 100 points ?

In order to promote extra curricular ctivities among the university students the Gujarat Technological University (GTU) has implemented the evaluation system in 100 activity points since 2015-16. Students pursuing their B.E.(Bachelors of Engineering) have to secure 100 activity points in order to get their undergraduate degree during their undergrad”s years of studying in the university.So here are some ways to secure their 100 points .

1.Participating in college Techfest: Many a times participation in the college”s techfest is more beneficial as they give certificates of the participation which may be worth 6-9 points per certificate.

[Note: It depends which level the college has hosted the techfest.]

2.By studying through MOOC :Many MOOC’s[Massive Online Open-Courseware] gives certificate if a candidate completes a specific course in a specific subject. The GTU’s evaluation system is eligible to give 9 points in the technical skills category if the candidate have learnt any course on the MOOC’s. Here,are the list MOOC’s from where a candidate can learn and earn certificates for GTU 100 points.

A) NPTEL[National Program in Technology Enhanced Learning](course fee–>1000 to 1100): This MOOC is funded by MHRD Govt Of India and the certificates (Under the Guidance of IIT’s and IISC) are given after taking a 3 hours exam of the candidate. For more information visit https://nptel.ac.in/

B)Google Digital Unlocked(course fee–>free): Google and its team have started educating the students in the field of online marketing,search engine optimisation(SEO),e-commerce,etc with this online course which has 26 modules. C)Saylor Academy(course fee –>free): This MOOC is providing education in the field of computer science,accounting,arts,humanities,etc. Also in this MOOC the student has to give exam for 2 hours. In order to get certificate one has to score higher than 70%. Visit.https://learn.saylor.org/

3. Community service and serving in the NGO’s: Students can earn 3-15 points by serving in NGO’s or taking part in various community oriented sevices. In most of the colleges NCC-NSS local chapters are setup which conducts various activities such as blood donation camps,tree-plantation,campaigning against pollution,etc. Serving in NCC-NSS programs or in any other NGO for one year may help students to secure 15 such points.

4.Voluteering in the events: By becoming voluteer or co-ordinator in the techfest or a event student can secure 6 points if he is a volunteer or 10 points if he is a sub-coordinator or 15 points if he is a core-cordinator. However many collleges will not give someone this kind of post unless he is in 2nd year or else he is not in the good books of a professor or he is not in contact of a powerful person of the college [that means he is just a mere student who has no good contacts of any senior who can help him to become a volunteer or coordinator].

5.Participating in sports and cultural events: This is one of the easiest way student can secure 30 points just by participating in colllege sports day or any of the college’s cultural events. This kind of activities occur many times in one year so its easy to get 30 points in four years.

6.Workshops: Participating in various workshops may help to secure points in cultural as well as technical skills category depending on the subject of the workshop.

7.Participating in organisaions: Here is the list of organisitions from where students can particpate and earn certificates apart from college activities. This may also help in accelerating their career growth. Technical organisations like Computer society of india (CSI) [for computer enginners only],Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), etc. Other organications such as Junior Chamber International(JCI),AIESEC,Rotary international,etc. Various activities in these kind of organisations also help to earn certificates in the cultural activity category.

8. Go for courses related to startups and entrepreneurship(approx 10 points per certificate): Under the 5th category innovation / IPR / Entrepreneurship one can apply for the certificate under the sub category of Other Major Industry Specific Achievements.
